  • slabcinemaarthouse 134 Blue Star San Antonio, TX, 78204 United States (map)

Phillip Luna is debuting his new series, "Color Studies in Sunday Morning Jazz", for Contemporary Art Month. The series will be on view at Slab Cinema Arthouse at Blue Star Arts Complex from March 3rd to March 27th.

Opening reception First Friday March 4th.

Phillip Luna, is a San Antonio native, has worked as a full-time artist and musician for three decades. Phillip is a multimedia artist and speaks openly about the struggles and mercy of his mental health and explores themes of love and grace in his art and music. Currently, Phillip performs with The Please Help, and he has played as a member of Royal Punisher, Fear Snakeface, Shit City Dreamgirls, 1.0, and Worm. Luna's newest painting series, "Color Studies in Sunday Morning Jazz," highlights the dynamism and emotive quality of color and composition by deconstructing artistic elements into their simplest forms to highlight their inherent power. Just as he used to play jazz on Sunday mornings for the San Antonio community at the Cove, his current paintings are a free-flowing, expressive reflection of a lifetime of study. He comes to the canvas open to the possibilities of discovery and invites the paint to take on a life of its own – both reflecting his feelings in the moment and illuminating the connectedness of our human experience. The orchestration of color and highly intentional layering illuminates the archetypical nature of human emotion and experience. His art can be found on americangraphicart.com and his music at phillipluna.com
