Michael Wally Olivarri: (Harlem, New York) Artist, Illustrator and Painter Super thrilled that Michael Olivarri is headed BACK to SA to show some new, beautiful and fun art again!!! He will have prints for sale, as well as a couple of the other artists!! Michael is a San Antonio native who has resided in New York for the last 26 years with a colorful heritage that is apparent in his striking, evocative creations. Today his art is not only representative of his cultural background, but also in the worlds of sci-fi, fantasy, music, saints, film, nature and beauty. "Everything in Life is a living, moving canvas" he says. Michael works in a variety of mediums including canvas, paper, fabric, wood, skin (using henna), porcelain, glass bowls, plates and vases. He returns to San Antonio in March for his second show after a hugely successful show last summer, which will take place once again at JoJodancer photography studio at Blue Star.

Jeannette Apolinar: Contemporary Artist, Musician and Educator based in San Antonio, Texas. Jeannette's work is based primarily on a fascination with color and texture. These elements are explored through a mixed bag of imagery pulled from conscious and subconscious musings. Unable to conform to a specific genre, her self-described work is, "in a constant state of flux, moving from one thought to the next and can often vary stylistically". She states, "my desire to shift between media is cultivated by curiosity and my 20 years of experience in Art Education, where creative expression is an ever-changing experience." Jeannette serves as the lead Visual Arts Instructor at Stafford School for the Visual and Performing Arts, in San Antonio’s Edgewood ISD. "My ambition is to continue my exploration of theme and media, while espousing positivity and creative thought through artistic experimentation," she explained. On her creative fronts, Jeannette is the inadvertent set stylist for the annual Austin Corn Lovers Fiesta created by Jeff Smith of the SA/Austin cowpunk band the Hickoids. Her extra special made to order customized portable mural, personalized designer quilt-styled backdrop, and playful paper machete corn statues have graced stages in various clubs and cities, always creating new fans of her work which exudes every ounce of her creativity.

Lisa Nigro: Painter, Welder, Sculptor, Born in Milford, Connecticut USA. Throughout her graduate studies Lisa utilized foundry methods for casting bronze, mold-making, and body casting to create walk through environments with a feminist agenda. After receiving her MFA, she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and became involved with artists creating works for Burning Man. It was with her first experience at the festival, during "Hellco" that she became inspired to create large-scale art. 1999 marked this major transition in her career and practice with the creation of the larger-than-life sundial Diana of Ephesus, with accompanying all female performance. This installation spurred her on to create her most influential project, the mobile, fire-breathing Draka-the-Dragon. Last summer of 2022, Lisa received invitation to participate as the first International Artist-in-Residence at Bosch Parade, ’s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands where she created the floating steel sculpture Angler Maiden. She is a recent Burning Man Honorarium recipient for which she produced Phoenix Rising, an interactive sculpture with flame effects 2019. She also received the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art Commission Award to create Phaya Nagas - a dragon mosaic swing set (2016) as well as multiple other grants from the same organization to display Draka at Houston’s Art Car Parade 2004-12.

Linda Vivenza: Photographer, Artist Linda began showing photography publicly in 2013 following her success in a photography contest; since then, she has shown her work in a multitude of one-woman and group shows. Vivenza is known for her large-scale photos of miniature, whimsical, yet mature themed dioramas, many of which can be found in the homes of local art collectors. In 2021 she was selected by the San Antonio DoSeum as an Artist-in-Residence. At the height of the pandemic in 2020 she began self-teaching painting and will have her work displayed in a gallery for the first-time during March First Friday. She is currently focusing on autobiographical portraits and dystopian architecture.

Zan DuRoy: (Rockstar Muse) Mixed Media Artist As a San Antonio native, Zan has always surrounded herself with a diverse group of musical and mixed-media artists and only recently realized her own talent as one. As an emerging artist showing at galleries throughout Blue Star, Zan has found her best work is drawn upon her lifelong love of art, music, and her travels. She explores a wide variety of application and textural technique to realize her unique interpretation of natural objects and emotional themes. Her creative takes on the ordinary makes for unconventional uniqueness and beauty.

Anthony Garcia: JoJodancerphotographystudio Photographer, Editor, Curator Anthony will be showing some past and unseen photography during this special event in his studio space in the Upstairs Galleries. Anthony has taken the first year of being a professional photographer and has persevered in every opportunity that has been presented to him including currently curating other galleries on the Blue Star compound. Although emerged in many facets, Anthony continues to excel in unconventional family photoshoots, corporate imaging, weddings and other special occasions. Anthony also continues to shoot concerts, musicians, commercial on-location group such as when commissioned by Urban 15, local Drag Queens for their event ads, local performance artists in need of his open-mindedness & creativity and surrounding settings that lend to his style of challenge expanding his wheelhouse by studying architecture. In 2022, Anthony was awarded an Individual Artist Grant and will be creating a “Have a Seat” series that will be followed by a show in Fall of 2023. On January 7, Anthony got to see the results of an almost year-long project and collaboration with Photographer Lindell Tate, who is best known for his extraordinary and iconic photos of edge driven musicians or bands from the early days of punk and took on editing a multitude of slides to photos from the now iconic 1978 Sex Pistols show in San Antonio, Texas at Randy’s Rodeo taken by Lindell Tate. The commissioned work of final edits blown up to poster size and printed in standard and post card size were displayed and sold at the 45th Anniversary show that took place at Paper Tiger. Some of those prints will be included in the upcoming art show on March 3 & 4 in his photography studio. The editing project is currently ongoing with a vast variety of slides from the Ramones, Iggy, Black Sabbath and so may more that will be ready to print and show through the next year or so.
