Contemporary artist Andy Benavides curates an impressive list for S.M.A.R.T.'s Second Saturday. Benavides invites 29 community artists to reflect and respond to their past experiences of drawing on desks. This exhibit is in response to what seems to be the ongoing discussion of budgets and budget cuts and the non prioritized value of the institutions that grow our future generations. School closures and the arts typically are at the top of the chopping block. This show is intended to demonstrate the resiliency of 30 artists who refused to stop drawing on their desk and as a result have developed into productive contributors on the topic of individuality and self expression.
