Phillip Luna Presents 24 HRS OF FLWRS

  • Phillip Luna 419 McKay Avenue San Antonio, TX, 78204 United States (map)

Phillip Luna in his home studio as he live paints flowers for 24 hours as part of his popular series, Love Sick. In this series, Luna juxtaposes watercolor florals still lifes with phrases from pop culture, commenting on the complexity of falling in love in our noisy, contemporary world. In a special event for Contemporary Art Month, Luna will open up his home and studio, painting flowers for visitors as they explore a large private art collection. “The inspiration for Love Sick came from the fresh flowers that my wife and I were bringing to and receiving from our girlfriend. After being together for 25 amazing years, my wife and I got to experience falling in love together – all over again. Every day was both a blessing and fraught with anxiety as we navigated dating the same woman as a married couple. Our relationship evolved every day, and the changing floral arrangements in what became our shared home marked the days and our progress. Graphic art and typography have heavily influenced my career and it seemed natural to include the word or phrase that resonated with the day, even though it often conceptually contrasts with the flowers themselves.”

Donations appreciated & paintings for sale.
