Exhibition of work by Dallas artist, Martin Delabano

  • Space C7 2450 Roosevelt Avenue San Antonio, TX, 78210 United States (map)

Space C7 is proud to present the work of celebrated Dallas artist, Martin Delabano.

Delabano is a sculptor, painter, blogger, musician, and a middle school art teacher at St. John’s Episcopal School in Dallas. Born and raised in Dallas, Delabano received his B.F.A at East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas, and his M.A. in sculpture at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is known as one of the last artists working in Texas with direct connections to the infamous, Texas Nine, the group of Texas artists working in and around Dallas in the early part of the twentieth century. His father Barney, was the curator of Exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art for thirty-three years and, as a result, Martin grew up knowing all the great Texas artists as well as meeting artworld luminaries such as Henry Moore, Louise Nevelson, and others as a kid. The work on view is a survey of the last five years of his work arranged around the star of the show, the monumental work, “Sanctuary and the Loss of Innocence,” a colorful life-sized piece that emerged from his hands during the worst days of the pandemic as a symbol for hope moving forward.

The public is invited to help us celebrate the artwork by Delebano while kicking off what promises to be another great Contemporary Art Month. The artist will be in attendance and this will be the last chance to see this amazing exhibit.

For more information or to schedule a visit to the gallery please text our curator, Jeff Wheeler at (806) 392-1915. We look forward to seeing you there!
