“De una Conga, una Trova” is a photographic exploration that reflects the deep cultural and musical soul of Santiago de Cuba. Captured by Alejandro Ramos, this exhibit spans multiple visits to the city, gradually building a body of work that aims to portray the full spectrum of Santiago's identity—its people, its streets, and its cultural heritage. The title itself references the fusion of two iconic musical genres—Conga and Trova—that have shaped the city's unique soundscape and its place in the broader history of Cuban music.
The show will be on display until May 8th, 2025 at Embarrassing Shoes, a new photobook store and gallery located in Southtown San Antonio. The opening reception will be on March 8, 2025 from 6pm - 9pm.
